My So-Called Scarf

[pictures and more details coming soon]

I won a blog contest on Annemarie Martin's wonderful knitting blog! The prize was two skeins of hand-spun, hand-dyed Uruguayan wool. (Annemarie also threw in some wonderful extra goodies.) After carefully considering the possibilities, I went with a pattern available free online: My So-Called Scarf.

This pattern really shows off the thick-thin spin of the yarn and has a lot of delicious texture to it. As I was finishing it up, I realized with amusement that this is the first scarf I have ever knit (and I began knitting in 1987.) I think that is because most scarves I've seen are so boring I couldn't bear to sit and knit one out. But this wool is divine and the pattern is gorgeous and I am feeling inspired to try more interesting and unusual scarves in the future.
